Your Local Engineer for Inkersall and Inkersall Green
Inkersall sits just south of Staveley and is one of the more straightforward areas for us to reach, roughly fifteen minutes from our Chesterfield base. We work there constantly, and a good deal of it comes through neighbours recommending us to each other along the same few roads.
The bread and butter here is boiler servicing and repair. Inkersall's housing is largely of a similar age, which means the systems tend to reach the same stage of life at around the same time, and we see clear patterns in what fails and when.
Alongside that we handle new boiler installations, central heating upgrades, radiator work and general plumbing. Quotations are free and there is never any pressure to proceed.
Inkersall Homes: A Predictable Pattern of Wear
Inkersall Green expanded significantly from the 1960s onwards, and most of the estate housing dates from that period through to the 1980s. The construction is broadly consistent: cavity-walled semis and short terraces, sensible layouts, and central heating that was either installed from new or added not long afterwards.
The practical consequence is that a lot of Inkersall systems were built around a floor-standing or wall-hung boiler with a hot water cylinder and a loft tank. Many have since been converted to combis, typically between 2000 and 2015, which means a large number of the boilers now in service in the area are approaching or past the fifteen year mark. That is exactly the point at which parts availability starts to get awkward and repair costs start to stack up against the cost of replacement.
The pipework in these houses is generally in better condition than in Victorian terraces, but microbore is common and will limit what a modern high-output combi can deliver. We always check what the existing pipework can carry before recommending a boiler size, rather than fitting something the house cannot make use of.
The Faults We See Most in Inkersall
Given the age profile of local systems, these come up again and again.
Diverter Valve Failure
Heating works, hot water does not, or the taps run lukewarm. Extremely common on combis of this vintage and usually a same-visit fix.
Expansion Vessel Losing Charge
Shows up as pressure that climbs when heating is on and drops back overnight. Often rechargeable, sometimes needs replacing.
Obsolete Parts on Older Combis
Once a PCB or fan is discontinued, a repair can cost more than it is worth. We will tell you straight when that point has been reached.
Radiators Cold at the Bottom
Sludge settling in microbore pipework. A power flush and magnetic filter makes a real difference here.

Inkersall Heating FAQs
How old does a boiler need to be before replacing it?
There is no fixed rule, but once an appliance passes twelve to fifteen years, repairs get more frequent and parts get harder to source. Many Inkersall boilers fitted in the 2000s are at that stage now. We will give you an honest view based on the specific boiler rather than a blanket answer.
Can you get here the same day?
Usually, yes. Inkersall is around fifteen minutes from us, so urgent breakdowns can normally be squeezed in the same day.
Is a power flush worth the money?
If your radiators are cold at the bottom, your boiler is noisy or the system takes an age to warm up, then yes. On Inkersall's microbore systems it makes a noticeable difference. If your system is clean it would be a waste of your money and we will say so.
Do you fit magnetic filters?
We fit one as standard with every new boiler installation, and we can retro-fit one to an existing system. It catches the debris that would otherwise end up in the heat exchanger.
Do you charge extra for evening or weekend work?
Our standard hours run seven days a week, Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm and weekends 7am to 5pm, and there is no weekend premium within those hours.
Can you service a boiler that has not been touched in years?
Yes. It is worth doing even if it has been neglected, and we would rather find a problem during a service than have you find it in the middle of December.
